Your journey commences as you disembark your cruise ship and board a spacious and comfortable coach ready to transport you on an unforgettable experience. Your tour’s highlight is the breathtaking Goðafoss Waterfall, often referred to as the “Waterfall of the Gods.” Admire the powerful cascade and the lush green surroundings, all while learning about the Viking-era legends that infuse this site with cultural significance.

As your coach tour wraps up, you will be returned to Akureyri cruise ship port, allowing you ample time to rejoin your cruise ship for departure. There is also an option to be droped off at the Forest Lagoon, Akureyri Botanical Gardens or Akureyri City Center, in case you want to enjoy free time before the ship’s departure. All these are within walking distance from the Cruiseship Port. Forest Lagoon offers free transport back to Akureyri Port.

PORT OF ISAFJORDUR
Breathtaking Dynjandi Waterfall and Surrounding Villages
Tour Duration: 3.5 hours

The tour will start with a drive through the tunnel of Vestifjaroagong, through the mountain, discovering many towns, exquisite fjords, before reaching the town of Dynjandi. From here there will be a short walk, around 15 to 20 minutes to the Dynjandi Waterfall.

The Waterfall is situated at the innermost point of Arnar Fjord, which is around a 50 minute drive from the port of Isafjordur, standing at 100 metres high, the tallest waterfall in the Westfjords.

Once we reach the falls, there will be free time to admire this magnificent creation. The falls are often compared to a bridal veil, starting from 30 metres at the top to 60 metres towards the bottom, stand and admire this incredible series of waterfalls, the photo opportunities are endless!

After the glory of the Waterfalls, we will continue the tour to a typical traditional Icelandic working farm, which is on the way back to the port of Isafjordur, situated on the coastline of Dyrar Fjord.

Here we will get to see and learn all about a working farm in Iceland. Experiencing the remote peaceful homestead and the day to day life.

Time to take in this peaceful location, with a complimentary tea or coffee and try some typical Icelandic cake the Hjonabandssaela, which consists of Oats and Rhubarb Jam, before we make our way back to the cruise port after a wonderful tour capturing the wonders of this beautiful destination.

PORT OF REYKJAVIK
Grand Golden Circle Tour
Tour Duration: 8.5 hours

The Golden Circle is a day tour in the south of Iceland which covers around 300km, looping from the capital, Reykjavík, into central Iceland and back. You'll travel from Reykjavík to Thingvellir National Park, a location of historical significance and a national park due to its unique geology and natural features.

The first stop of the day is to Kerið Volcanic Crater, remnants of an eruption 3000 years ago. This impressive crater features a wide walking path along the crater top, as well as a pathway down to the crater bottom, which is now a crater lake.

The geothermal active valley of Haukadalur is your next destination - here, you can have lunch (not included) and watch a geyser erupt. Unfortunately, the geyser has been somewhat shy in recent decades. When the geyser does perform, once or twice a year, it spews a jet of steaming water 200 feet skyward. Far more reliable, though less spectacular, is nearby Strokkur, which spouts a 60-100 foot jet about once every five minutes. The geyser area is also full of walking paths that lead past steaming vents, colorful and mineral-rich mud formations.

We make our way to the Gullfoss waterfall. The wide Hvita river rushes southwards and about a kilometer above the fall it turns sharply to the left and flows down into a wide curved three-step 'staircase' before abruptly plunging into two stages (11m and 21m), forming a crevice 32m deep. As you first approach the fall, the crevice is obscured from view, and it appears that a mighty river simply vanishes into the earth.

At Thingvellir, Althing - one of the oldest extant parliamentary institutions in the world - was established in around 930 and continued to convene there until 1798. So often the stage for major events in the history of Iceland, Thingvellir is now a national park with a protected area that will always be the property of the Icelandic nation, under the preservation of the Althing. Thingvellir was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2004.
