Departing from the Messina cruise port aboard one of our comfortable vehicles, we travel along the scenic Ionian coastline before reaching the Taormina exit. Winding roads and spectacular panoramic views lead us to our first stop, Castelmola, perched high on Monte Tauro.
Historically linked to Taormina, Castelmola once served as the acropolis during Greek domination. Today, it retains a charming medieval atmosphere and is proudly listed among Italy’s most beautiful villages. During your visit, don’t miss the opportunity to taste its famous almond wine, a sweet local specialty best enjoyed while admiring breathtaking views of Mount Etna and the coastline. A highlight of the village is Bar Turrisi, one of Italy’s most famous and unusual cafés, renowned for its bold décor celebrating ancient Greek fertility symbols.
Our journey continues to Taormina, where stunning landscapes, archaeological treasures, and vibrant streets create a truly magical atmosphere. The visit begins along Corso Umberto, the main boulevard in the historic centre, lined with elegant boutiques, panoramic cafés, and historic palaces. From Piazza IX Aprile, you’ll enjoy one of the most spectacular views in Sicily, overlooking Mount Etna and the Bay of Giardini Naxos.
We then proceed to the Ancient Greek Theatre, Taormina’s most iconic monument. Standing among its ancient columns and stone tiers, you’ll be treated to an extraordinary panorama combining the volcano, the sea, and the coastline stretching toward mainland Italy.
After the guided tour, enjoy free time to savour a traditional Sicilian lunch at your leisure (not included), with options such as arancini, focaccia, fresh pasta, seafood, and the famous cannoli. Your guide will then meet you at the designated point to accompany you back to the port of Messina.
