Overview

On a fateful summers day in 79 A.D., Mt. Vesuvius erupted, spewing volcanic ash over the prosperous city of Pompeii. Unaware of the imminent danger, most people continued on with their daily lives and as a result the entire town and around 20,000 of its inhabitants were buried under tons of ash and pumice.

Almost 2,000 years later, you have the opportunity to explore the site of this famous disaster and see the houses, streets and public buildings miraculously preserved by the volcanic ash. You will be taken to fascinating places such as the Forum, Thermal Baths, Lupanare brothel and Vettis House with its beautiful frescoes.

Our next stop is Positano, the most picturesque and photogenic town on the on the Amalfi coast. Here, you will have some free time for lunch (at your own cost) or get some souvenirs.

Finally the tour will head to Sorrento, this area is particularly famous for lemons and Limoncello a very tasty Lemon Liqueur before heading back to the port of Sorrento.

Considerations

Entrance fees to Pompeii are not included and cost approximately 22 Euros per person (you will be able to buy these at the entrance to Pompeii). Free admission for EU and Outside EU citizen under the age of 18 (ID or Passport needed as a proof).
If you choose Herculaneum, this site is closed on Saturday and entrance fees are approximately 16 euros per person
Foldable wheelchairs can be stored. Pompeii site is not suitable for wheelchairs however, there are some cafes outside where you can sit and wait. Some parts of Herculaneum are wheelchair accessible

Local currency is Euro (EUR)
Backpacks are not allowed in Pompeii site. Cloakrooms are available but the tour starts and ends at two different places, therefore it is not practical to store your belongings
It is recommended to take sun cream and a sun hat, as at times on this excursion it can get un-seasonably hot
It is recommended to drink plenty of water
Please wear comfortable footwear for this excursion as there is some walking on uneven ground, inclines and steps. Sandals are not suitable to the hike on Mt Vesuvius
Please don't forget your fully charged camera, as we don't want you to miss out on some wonderful memories
