Overview
This tour visits The Ullandhaug Tower and the Viking Monument, Swords in Rock (Sverd i fjell) where we will stop for photos. On the way to Ullandhaug, we will stop at Hafrsfjord, where a historical sea battle was fought in the age of the Vikings 1100 years ago.
From Ullandhaug Tower, you will get a bird's eye view over the city and the Ryfylke Fjords.
You can view the outside of Stavanger Cathedral, built of stone in the 12th century. The Cathedral was erected by Bishop Reinald from Winchester, England, in 1125, after King Sigurd Jorsalfar (the Crusader) made Stavanger to a cathedral town. The well-preserved Middle Ages cathedral was originally erected in Anglo-Norman style, but after a fire in 1272, the vestibule was rebuilt in Gothic style.
You will also enjoy a guided walking tour of both the Old Town and the modern part of town, plus you will have some free time to experience Stavanger and to shop for souvenirs before returning to your cruise ship.
