The great poet Lope de Vega captured its splendor with these words:
“I do not know if I called heaven the earth I tread;
if this below is paradise,
what then must the Alhambra be, heaven?”

Inspired by this vision, we begin our journey through this extraordinary artistic masterpiece, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Our visit starts in the Nasrid Palaces, the refined royal residences where the rulers of Al-Andalus consolidated their power, fostered the arts, lived stories of passion and intrigue, and ultimately faced the sorrowful loss of their beloved Granada.

Within the Alhambra, whose name comes from the Arabic al-Qal’a al-Hamra, meaning “the Red Fortress”, we will explore the three palaces that form the heart of the complex: the Mexuar, the Comares Palace, and the Palace of the Lions.
In the latter, you will admire the famous Fountain of the Lions, a symbol surrounded by mystery. Nearby, another fountain bears reddish marks at its base, traditionally linked to the legendary and tragic conflict between the Nasrid and Abencerraje families.

As one of the greatest treasures in world art history, the Alhambra reveals its secrets through intricate Nasrid ornamentation, which we will learn to interpret throughout the visit.

We will then continue to another remarkable highlight: the Palace of Charles V. Here, you will discover fascinating stories, including the emperor’s honeymoon with Isabella of Portugal and the legend that their son, future King Philip II, may have been conceived within these walls.

The guided tour proceeds through the remains of the medina and the Alcazaba, the formidable military fortress that once protected the entire complex.

From here, we will see the Tower of the Bell, whose bells still ring every January 2nd to commemorate the Christian conquest of Granada.

To conclude, we will enjoy a tranquil guided stroll through the Generalife Gardens, a serene floral retreat where Nasrid emirs once rested among fountains and irrigation channels while reflecting on matters of state and love.

After this unforgettable experience filled with history, legends, and beauty, we will return comfortably to the port, where you will be dropped off once again at the ship’s gangway, bringing to a close a truly memorable day in Granada.
