Overview
Your guide welcomes you at your cruise port, ready to board your bus and drive to Willemstad's Scharloo District. This area used to be the residential area of the business people centuries ago built by the island's Jewish merchants. Admire the magnificently restored mansions, now part of the UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE monuments. You will also see the beautiful mansion known as the Wedding Cake House, named after it's unique architecture and also houses the National Archives.
Next you'll see a row of colorful one story houses built in stepped formation, these beautiful architectural historical buildings have been declared monuments. The houses were restored in 1986, but their exact year of construction is unknown.
Your drive continues to The Chobolobo Mansion, a country house which was built in the early 1800s located at the center of a large former plantation. Here you will discover the Curacao Liqueur Distillery. You can experience how the well-known Blue Curacao Liqueur has been made since 1896 with a tasting and you may want to bring a bottle home as a souvenir.
Your drive continues on to the bustling Mambo Beach Boulevard, where you will enjoy a 20 minute stop to take pictures and take in the beautiful beach atmosphere.
Back onboard you'll travel across the Queen Juliana Bridge, the highest bridge in the Caribbean (185 feet above sea level). The bridge weighs 3.400 tons and has four traffic lanes, and you can see the city and harbor entrance below - it's quite a view!
At the end of your tour you may opt to be dropped off near the Pontoon Bridge for independent shopping and venture further, where you are responsible for your return to your ship, (which is within walking distance) or you can be dropped off back at your ship. Whatever you choose, you will return with unforgettable memories!
