Overview

You will be heading to the Central Pacific Coast, Tarcoles River, and Carara National Park until you arrive at our private property, about a 60-minute drive from Puntarenas Pier. Upon arrival to our beautiful property, you will have some free time to use restrooms and explore the surroundings before starting the adventure.

This tour consists of a journey through the rain forest, located in the Tarcolitos River canyon that is part of the 200-hectare private reserve of the Hotel Villa Lapas, crossing the river 8 times with a total distance of 3.2km in a cart drawn by a grasshopper at low speed, so that you can appreciate both the flora and fauna of such a special area in Costa Rica as Carara is. During the tour, we make several stops for bird watching and important trees in the area as well as a stop to see the river where even customers can get off the wagon and get into the pool.

Our two carts have a capacity for 24 and 28 people and lasts approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes.

After this great adventure, our tour will continue with a short drive to Tarcoles River, where a 60 minutes eco boat tour will allow you to enjoy the abundant wildlife of the area, including the huge crocodiles, multiple aquatic birds, scarlet macaws, howler monkeys, and other amazing tropical species.

After these two great adventures, enjoy a stop at El Jardin Souvenir store, one of the best and largest souvenir stores in the region, where you will be able to purchase that special gift from Costa Rica before the return to the pier. Upon arrival, you can decide to stay in the city or make your way back directly to the ship. For all those interested in walking along the boulevards, the pier is located right in the city at a very short distance from your ship. So, no worries for an easy return.

Please see your purser on your ship to clarify whether your ship changes its time to local time so you do not miss your excursion. Also, check the daily itinerary which is delivered the evening before arriving into port. As each ship is ruled by its captain, it is your responsibility to confirm this while you are sailing

Dress in very comfortable clothes. We recommend loose-fitting clothes, baseball hat, tennis shoes or sandals that close
You should bring sunscreen, insect repellent and if you plan to swim in the river your swimsuit and towel
Each tractor holds about 25 people.
This is an easy adventure, suitable for all ages
If you are traveling with a collapsible wheelchair, you will need to notify Venture Ashore in advance.
