Overview
Whether paddling on top of it, immersed in it, or viewing it from a scenic promontory, the warm, blue, inviting Caribbean in and around St. Thomas' Mangrove Lagoon Wildlife and Marine Sanctuary promises, and delivers, a not-to-be-forgotten excursion.
After a brief kayaking and safety lesson, you'll board your colorful two-person sit-on-top kayak, and paddle into the clear waters of a fascinating island and marine world.
Well kayak among the many small islands of the protected Mangrove Lagoon and learn how the Mangrove ecosystem plays a crucial role in protecting healthy offshore coral reefs, as well as local bird and reef fish populations. At Cas Cay, enjoy a hermit crab race, hike to tidal pools and volcanic cliffs, and visit a rare geologic blow hole.
Next, well hike the pristine, deserted 15-acre island of Cas Cay, which is part of Virgin Islands National Park. Enjoy the many breathtaking views from the coral and shell laded beaches. Snorkel a coral-fringed mangrove nursery with an easy beach entry in the clear protected waters.
