Your journey begins by seeing the Embassy Cinema, home of world premieres of 2 most famous movies - The Return of the Kings World and An Unexpected Journey! If you are a fan, you will appreciate how special this place is!
From here you will travel to Mt Victoria lookout, and enjoy stunning views across the harbor and city. For more movie insight, travel to the Outer Shire and experience the familiar forested slopes and your guide will share how the Lord of the Rings movies came to life.
If you know the names Frodo, the Hobbits and One Ring then you will appreciate visiting here and even have the chance to create some of the famous scenes and see the well known places where the Black Riders fled and other scenes from the Fellowship of the Ring.
For more movie delights, you travel to the Miramar Peninsula, simply knows as the the film-making Mecca of Wellywood! Here, you will get to experience a behind the scenes top secret tour space.
At the Weta Workshop you will meet a Weta artist and discover the wonders of movie making, from the costumes, to props and the creatures that you will know from the screen. This is sure to be a tour highlight, new memories from those middle-Earth movies, perhaps even see your favorite characters! Plus you may want to pick up a souvenir.
Following all the Weta fun, your tour takes you away from the city, to the shores of the Great River Anduin. Exactly where the Fellowship travelled towards the Falls of Rauros after leaving Lothlorien!
Time for a tasty lunch - worthy for a Hobbit at a nearby cafe. Enjoy feasting on traditional hobbit lunch, accompanied by ale! Please advise at the time of booking, any dietary needs.
From there its onwards to the beautiful and ancient Kaitoke Regional Park. This rain forest was famously known as the film spot for Rivendell. An immersive experience as you discover this mystical setting - Elrond's house, Frodo's bedroom and the bridge where Arwen and Aragorn share a kiss.
You may want to recreate your own scenes and snap a photo reenacting a famous Legolas image.....dreams really do come true!
For film enthusiasts you will see where Frodo leads the newly formed Fellowship towards Mordor, stop right in front of the Rivendell gate tower - this is the only replica from the movie in New Zealand! Plus see other familiar surroundings including the Fords of Isen, where Eomund was found by Eomer at the start of The Two Towers! Discover an ancient Rimu tree - known to be 800 years old, and even cross a swing bridge surrounded by beautiful flora and fauna.
Finally, you will visit Harcourt Park, where you can explore the Gardens of Isengard. More familiar scenes - this is where Gandalf rode to meet Saruman plus see where the wizards walked the gardens and is the well known spot where the Orcs began felling Fangorn Forest.
You will have felt you were part of your own movie as you board your transport back to the city. Driving past Dry Creek Quarry, more settings of Helm's Deep and Minas Tirith, on the way (views are from the road, as this is now a working quarry).

All tours include a visit to the Weta Workshop and their behind-the-scenes tour. However, Weta has two tour spaces – Weta Workshop Experience and Weta Group Tour Experience – we generally visit the group tour space which is not located at the main building.
