Overview
Your tour will be in a 4 x 4 vehicle with a maximum of 8 guests per car and will be conducted by your driver-guide.
Leaving the cruise port of Funchal, your tour will make its way to Portela in the open-top 4 x 4 vehicle. Portela is one of the many forest areas of Madeira that are internationally known as the best-conserved forest of its time and was given the natural heritage site by UNESCO in 1999.
Your driver-guide will take you off-road and drive old royal footpaths to experience this area in its fullest, pointing out the many assorted fauna and flora and be amazed at the isolated rural nature of the villages during this adventure.
The first stop will be the Portela viewpoint, be prepared for some astonishing scenery, capture every angle of the magnificent scenes which are truly breathtaking.
After the viewpoint, time to leave your 4 x 4 and take a short walking tour (weather permitting) through the UNESCO forest (15 minutes) to discover the area in its fullest.
A short stop at a rum distillery will be made before returning back to Funchal cruise port, with many beautiful memories of Madeira!
This tour is very popular, its advised to reserve as soon as possible as the maximum in each vehicle is 8 guests.
