Overview
You will be met at the port of Izmir by your professional guide.
We'll begin with a visit to Sardes and the ruins of the Temple of Artemis, the remains of the Byzantine Church, and the site of the ancient marketplace of Agora.
As you stroll along the Kingsway, you'll see the remains of one of the oldest synagogues in Asia Minor and the wonderfully restored facade of the gymnasium, where both scholars and athletes were trained.
Enjoy your lunch at a local restaurant in Salihli and sample one of the regional Turkish wines vinted in this part of Anatolia.
Now heading to Izmir, you'll visit the Kemeralti Market area, where you'll see the Kizlaragasi Han (The Ottoman Inn), a fine example of 18th-century architecture. Browse through the narrow streets and enjoy some shopping before returning to your cruise ship at Izmir port.
