Overview
Step into the story of The Beatles and explore the Liverpool locations that helped shape the lives, music and memories of four of the world's most famous musicians. Our Beatles Taxi Tour offers a relaxed and informative journey through Liverpool, with a knowledgeable Driver/Guide bringing the stories behind the locations to life along the way.
Your Driver/Guide will greet you and your party, introduce themselves and explain the itinerary, the locations you will visit and the approximate duration of the tour before setting off.
Ringo Starr's Childhood Homes
Our Beatles journey begins by exploring two of Ringo Starr's childhood homes:
Madryn Street
Admiral Grove
Your Driver/Guide will share stories about Ringo's early life and growing up in Liverpool, giving you an insight into the surroundings that helped shape his early years before The Beatles changed his life forever.
Penny Lane
No Beatles tour of Liverpool would be complete without a visit to the legendary Penny Lane.
We will stop at the famous Penny Lane sign, giving you time to take photographs and hear the story behind one of The Beatles' best-known songs. Your Driver/Guide will explain how “Penny Lane” was created and the inspiration behind the lyrics.
We will then drive along Penny Lane while listening to the song, bringing the famous lyrics to life as we make our way around the locations mentioned in the song.
Along the route, we will see landmarks associated with the lyrics, including the old bus shelter in the middle of the roundabout and the barbershop featured in the famous song.
Paul McCartney's Childhood Home – Forthlin Road
From Penny Lane, we continue to Forthlin Road, where Paul McCartney spent much of his childhood.
Our guide will stop outside Paul's childhood home, giving you the opportunity to take photographs of the exterior of the property.
You will hear fascinating stories about Paul's early life, his family and his development as a songwriter. The guide will also tell you about the songs Paul wrote at the house and how John Lennon and George Harrison would visit and rehearse with Paul at the property during the early days of their musical partnership.
Strawberry Field
We then continue to Strawberry Field, one of the most famous Beatles locations in Liverpool and forever associated with John Lennon's childhood memories and the iconic song “Strawberry Fields Forever.”
Today, Strawberry Field is a visitor centre featuring a souvenir shop, coffee shop, toilet facilities and beautifully landscaped gardens.
Your Driver/Guide will tell you the fascinating history and story of Strawberry Field before taking you down towards the famous gates, where you will have the opportunity to take photographs and experience one of Liverpool's most recognisable Beatles landmarks.
Throughout the tour, your Driver/Guide will share stories, facts and personal insights about The Beatles, their families, childhoods, friendships and the Liverpool locations that became part of their remarkable story.
Whether you are a lifelong Beatles fan or simply want to discover more about Liverpool's musical heritage, the Beatles Taxi Tour is a fantastic way to explore the places behind the music and see the city through the eyes of the world's most famous band.
