Overview
The ancient Island of Delos is off the coast of Mykonos, you will take a boat to explore this amazing Island! Delos is one of the most important mythological, historical and archaeological sites in Greece. Stone huts found on the Island indicate that it has been inhabited since the 3rd millennium BCE.
There are many wonderful sites to see on Delos such as the theatre, the small sacred lake, the Minoan fountain which dates to 6 BC. Visit the Terrace of the Lions which is even today in beautiful condition. This was dedicated to Apollo by the people of Naxos shortly before 600 BCE, it originally had nine to twelve squatting, snarling marble guardian lions along the sacred way. Amazingly today seven lions remain!
