Overview
Experience Santorini on foot along one of the island’s most spectacular walking routes. This guided hike takes you from Fira to Oia along the rim of the famous caldera, combining breathtaking scenery, traditional villages, volcanic landscapes, and fascinating insights into the island’s history and culture.
Starting in Fira, Santorini’s lively capital, follow the trail north through Firostefani and Imerovigli, passing whitewashed houses, blue-domed churches, and dramatic cliffside views. There will be plenty of opportunities to stop for photos and admire sweeping views across the caldera and the Aegean Sea.
Throughout the hike, your expert guide will bring Santorini to life with stories about its history, volcanic origins, architecture, traditions, local culture, and everyday life. Discover how powerful volcanic eruptions shaped the island’s unique landscape and learn what makes Santorini so much more than its famous views.
As you leave the villages behind, the landscape becomes increasingly wild and peaceful. Walk across rugged volcanic terrain, surrounded by dramatic cliffs, seasonal wildflowers, and uninterrupted sea views, before arriving in beautiful Oia.
The hike concludes at the historic Venetian Castle of Oia, where you can enjoy magnificent views over the village and the Aegean Sea while looking back on the impressive route you have completed.
This is an active excursion, and guests should be comfortable walking for several hours over uneven terrain, including uphill and downhill sections. Comfortable walking or hiking shoes and a good level of fitness are recommended.
