Discover one of Argentina’s most iconic natural wonders on this full-day shared excursion to Peninsula Valdés, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its stunning biodiversity and dramatic Patagonian landscapes.
This protected reserve is home to unique wildlife, including guanacos, Darwin’s rheas, Patagonian maras, and, with a bit of luck, elephant seals, all viewable from designated natural viewpoints. The peninsula's expansive coastlines and arid plateaus offer an unforgettable opportunity to connect deeply with nature.
Your experience begins directly from the port. As this is a longer tour, we ask cruise passengers to disembark as early as possible and meet our team just outside the port gate, where we’ll be holding a sign with your group’s name. For example, if your ship docks at 7:00 AM, we’ll aim to depart around 7:30 AM, returning approximately one hour before your cruise departure. If there’s any delay, we’ll adjust timing accordingly.
Once the group is assembled, we’ll head out by vehicle toward the Istmo Ameghino Interpretation Center, a small but informative space introducing the flora, fauna, and geography of the region. From there, the tour continues to the Caleta Valdés and Punta Cantor areas, prime spots for observing marine wildlife against the backdrop of Patagonia’s raw beauty.
At the end of the day, we’ll return to Puerto Madryn. If time allows, a brief city tour of your choice can be added before returning to the ship.
ITINERARY
- • Meet and greet at Puerto Madryn Port
- • Drive to Itsmo Carlos Ameghino Interpretation Center (90 minutes)
- • Visit inside Center (15 minutes)
- • Drive to Punta Cantor (120 minutes)
- • Enjoy the views of the elephant seals and surroundings (45 minutes)
- • Return back to Puerto Madryn (150 minutes)
Please note in the Interpretation center there is approximately 300 steps, at Punta Cantor there is approximately 700 steps
