Overview
As we leave from Salvador, we pass Itapoan, a popular neighborhood. Then, your tour proceeds to the north shore of Salvador, passing by sand dunes and mangroves vegetation. It will be a 90 minute trip through the scenic Coconut road. Upon arrival in Praia do Forte, begin with a visit to the ruins of the Garcia d'Ávila Castle, a unique example of medieval architecture in the Americas and one of the earliest large-scale Portuguese construction projects in Brazil. From this magnificent vantage point, take in the splendid view over the beach. You will also visit a fishing village and the Tamar Project (closed on Monday and Tuesday), created for the protection of nesting sea turtles.
Now it's time to stop for lunch at a local restaurant, and then enjoy some free time for shopping and walking around the village. On the way back to Salvador, you'll stop at a fine beach where you will have the chance to swim in the sparkling waves or just relax. Beverages and snacks are available from a native kiosk.
