Overview
Take a journey to the beautiful north Spanish city of Santiago de Compostela. Here you’ll explore a traditional city with its routes clearly still embedded into 21st-century life.
As you arrive into the city you’ll be struck by the phenomenal architecture which is around every corner. Romanesque, gothic and baroque-style buildings are most commonly found here, but there will also be influences from other corners of the world splattered across this town’s architecture.
Your first stop is the centre point of the city, Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela. Inside this glorious building is a silver crypt that contains the remains of one of Jesus’ Twelve Apostles, Saint James the Great. The cathedral is also well known for been one of the largest and most beautiful in the whole of Europe. Its stunning barrel-vaulted ceiling, grand organ, and Romanesque façade is a definite must-see when visiting the area.
From here you’ll move onto the Old Quarter, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the city council headquarters Palacio de Rajoy, and the 15th-century premier hotel, Parador dos Reis Catolicos. Once your tour of the city is over you will be given time to explore some more by yourself before jumping back on the bus and heading to your dock.
