Overview
Begin your tour by private car or chartered coach, accompanied by a knowledgeable local guide. This comfortable journey allows you to explore some of Fukuoka’s most important cultural and scenic landmarks.
Your first stop is Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine (9:30–11:00), one of Japan’s most significant Shinto shrines, located in Dazaifu, Fukuoka Prefecture. The shrine is dedicated to Sugawara no Michizane, the god of learning and knowledge, and is especially popular with students who visit to pray for success in their studies. Dazaifu Tenmangu is renowned for its beautiful ume (plum) trees, which bloom in early spring, as well as its calm and spiritual atmosphere. Visitors can enjoy a traditional shrine experience, sample local specialties such as ume-gae mochi, and stroll along the lively approach road lined with shops and cafés.
Next, visit Tochoji Temple (11:30–12:15), an important Buddhist temple in Fukuoka City. Founded in the early days of Buddhism in Japan, the temple is best known for housing one of the country’s largest wooden seated Buddha statues, offering insight into Japan’s Buddhist heritage.
Continue to Ohori Park (12:30–13:15), a spacious and scenic public park located in central Fukuoka. Centered around a large pond with walking paths and bridges, the park provides a peaceful setting where visitors can relax, enjoy nature, and take in beautiful water views within the city.
The tour then proceeds to Fukuoka Tower (13:30–14:30), the tallest seaside tower in Japan, situated along Fukuoka’s waterfront. From the observation deck, visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the city skyline, Hakata Bay, and the surrounding coastline.
After a full day of cultural exploration and sightseeing, return to the cruise port at approximately 15:00.
