Discover the beauty of the magnificent Taj Mahal on this fabulous day tour. Your tour will begin from Mumbai port where you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Delhi. Once in Delhi your guide will meet you and escort you to the Taj Mahal. This 20-hour day includes round-trip transfers by plane and cab, with 4-5 hours to marvel at the stunning marble mausoleum & Agra Fort.
You will begin with an early morning pick-up from the cruise port of Mumbai. Your Venture Ashore representative will be waiting for you as you arrive, and guide you to your transportation ready to take your tour. Pick-up times, are set for early AM departures, either 1am or 4am.
You will then head to the airport, to take your 2-hour flight to Delhia. Upon arrival at Delhi Airport, the next step of your journey will be a transfer to Agra. This will take approx. 3-4 hours.
Once you arrive in Agra it is now time to begin your tour. The great Taj Mahal, also called Crown of Palace, is a magnificent white marble mausoleum and a glittering jewel of Muslim architecture in India. Construction of the is great building started in the 1930s by the emperor Shah Jahan, in memory of his wife princess Mumtaz Mahal. Although the architectural design has Persian & Mughal influences, Shah Jahan added his own unique style by including white marble inlaid with semi-precious stones into the structure. Often referred to as the Jewel of Muslim Art in India, the Taj Mahal was designated a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1983 and attracts around 7-8 million visitors per year.
On this tour, you will get the opportunity to explore the Taj Mahal inside and out with your knowledgeable English Speaking Guide, who will explain detailed history and culture truly breathtaking building.
You will also have the chance to explore another UNESCO World Heritage site, Agra Fort, to see the red sandstone entry gates, remarkable palaces, and embellished chambers & mosques.
There will be approx. 4-5 hours in total to explore the Taj Mahal & Agra Fort, and you will have free time for lunch and shopping (own expense). Your guide on the day will be able to point out the best places to shop and grab a bit to eat.
At the end of your tour, you will be taken back to Delhi Airport. This journey will take approx. 3-4 hours. Once at Delhi Airport you will then take your return flight to Mumbai (approx. 2 hours), where your transfer will be waiting to take you back to the cruise port, and back to your ship.
