Overview
Step into the past with our captivating half-day tour, delving into the ancient marvels of Istanbul's architectural treasures.
Our journey commences with a visit to the Sultanahmet Imperial Mosque, fondly known as the Blue Mosque. Renowned for its awe-inspiring interior adorned with vibrant blue Iznik tiles, it offers the perfect backdrop for capturing iconic moments during your Istanbul exploration.
Continuing our odyssey, we venture to the Ancient Hippodrome, once the vibrant epicenter of Constantinople, capital of the Byzantine Empire. Here, the echoes of chariot races still linger amidst the remnants of three monumental survivors: the Bronze Serpent Column, the Obelisk of Theodosius the Great, and the Column of Constantine.
Next on our itinerary is a descent into the depths of history at The Basilica Cistern, the largest among Istanbul's subterranean marvels. Constructed in the 6th century under the patronage of Byzantine Emperor Justinian I, this subterranean chamber, nestled southwest of the Hagia Sophia, has not only stood the test of time but has also served as a renowned filming location, notably featured in the classic 1963 James Bond film "From Russia with Love."
Concluding our enlightening excursion is a visit to the Istanbul Archaeology Museum, a testament to Turkey's rich cultural heritage. Established in 1891, it stands as not only Turkey's pioneering museum but also one of the world's most extensive repositories of Greek, Roman, and Byzantine artifacts, boasting over one million pieces.
As the day draws to a close, you will be chauffeured back to the port in comfort, reflecting on the splendor and grandeur of Istanbul's ancient past.
