PORT OF KUSADASI
Small Group Tour - House of Mary, Temple and Ancient Ephesus
Tour Duration: 4.5 hours
You will be met at the port of Kusadasi, you will then be guided to your air conditioned transportation ready to commence this tour.
This tour is a small group tour, which has a maximum of 12 passengers per vehicle, so please reserve your seats as early as possible because this tour sells out quickly. Leaving from the port of Kusadasi, we will make our way to the famous site of House of Virgin Mary. The journey to House of Mary will take approximately 20 minutes (traffic depending), along the route your professional English speaking guide will be giving you commentary on the history and the culture of the area.
On arrival at House of Mary, your guide will walk you through the site, taking you to the entrance of the small church, here you will enter the church alone, please be aware, there is limited space in the church. As you exit the church, there is a opportunity to light a candle to display. In this area you will also find a wall, which holds a lot of hand written notes tied to the wall, where visitors have left their thoughts for all to read. The wells here also have taps to refill your water bottles, this water is said to be holy water.
Meeting up with your tour guide again, the tour will then commence to Ephesus the historical site. On entering Ephesus with your guide, they will be giving you information about the Baths of Scholastica, the Temple of Hadrian, the Biblical and the Grand Theatre are just some of the sites you will get to view and learn about. Ephesus is truly a most wonderful experience and one not to be missed. Please note there are not a lot of shaded area's in Ephesus and can get extremely hot, it is advised to wear comfortable footwear and take plenty of water.
Free time will be given to explore the many souvenir stands at the end of the tour of Ephesus.
Finally, when reaching the bottom of this most historical site, we will head toward the Artemis Temple, said to be one of the original wonders of the world. Unfortunately, there is not a lot left of this famous temple, but the guide will talk you through how it would have looked so many years ago and also explain the stories of this once, amazing area.
At the end of the tour, you will be taken back to Kusadasi port, in plenty of time for your cruise ships departure.
