Overview
Your once-in-a-lifetime Alaskan adventure begins at the cruise ship pier, where you’ll meet your driver for a short, scenic transfer to the nearby helipad. Upon arrival, you’ll gear up and receive a thorough safety briefing to prepare for the unforgettable experience ahead.
From the Juneau Airport helipad, you’ll lift off on a breathtaking helicopter flight over the vast and rugged Juneau Icefield. Soar above glacier-carved peaks and dramatic ice formations as you make your way to a remote dogsledding camp perched high atop Herbert Glacier.
The 15 to 20-minute flight (each way, weather dependent) offers incredible views of the ever-changing landscape—each glacier with its own distinct personality. As the helicopter descends, the excited howls of Alaskan huskies welcome you to camp—eager and ready to run.
Once on the glacier, you'll have the chance to meet the mushers and hear their personal stories of racing through the Alaskan wilderness in events like the Iditarod. If you’re feeling adventurous, you’ll receive simple instructions on how to drive the sled—including how to brake and stop—before heading out.
Then it’s time to set off on an exhilarating 1.5-mile loop across the snow. Along the way, you’ll be able to pause for photos and switch places with your companion if you’d like to try both mushing and riding. Your total time on the snow is approximately one unforgettable hour.
But the adventure doesn’t end there. Rather than heading straight back to Juneau, your helicopter will make a second landing on a lower section of the glacier. Here, you'll enjoy a guided 15-minute glacier walk—giving you a closer look at the surreal landscape of ice and stone. This combination of dogsledding and glacier exploration offers the best of both worlds—and the very best of Juneau.
Your journey concludes with a smooth flight back to the helipad, where your driver will be waiting to return you to the cruise ship pier—bringing your epic Alaskan experience to a perfect close.
