Overview
Your tour guide will meet you at the cruise port of Invergordon.
The tour will begin with a drive through the beautiful Highlands, including the stunning scenery of Beauly, where you will find plenty of great photo opportunities.
You will then head towards the infamous Loch Ness for a chance to glimpse the Loch Ness Monster (perhaps!).
Your first stop will be the wonderful Urquhart Castle, which was a critical strategic stronghold in the highlands. It is positioned on the banks of Loch Ness and was a main route through the Great Glen of the highlands. Unfortunately, its checkered history came to a dramatic end in 1692 when the castle was blown up to prevent it from falling into Jacobite hands!
What remains are picturesque and impressive ruins, surrounded on three sides by the cold deep waters of Loch Ness.
Visit the castle to learn of its dramatic history that dates back in written records to the 1200s, but in archaeology and folklore terms it dates right back to the Iron Age and the Picts. Spend some time exploring at your leisure, souvenir shopping, or taking wonderful photographs to savor those memories.
Finally, you will take a scenic drive back to Invergordon in plenty of time to meet your ship.
