Your first stop is the ancient city of Priene, once a thriving harbor settlement that now sits inland due to centuries of silt deposits from the Meander River. Nestled dramatically at the foot of Mount Mycale, Priene is one of the best-preserved examples of Hellenistic urban planning. Built on a grid system known as the Hippodamian plan, its streets intersect at perfect right angles, showcasing the advanced design and architectural sophistication of the ancient world.

Continue to Miletus, one of the most powerful and influential cities of ancient Anatolia. Ideally positioned along key trade routes, Miletus flourished as a major port and cultural center. It was home to some of history’s earliest thinkers, including Thales of Miletus, Anaximander, and Anaximenes, as well as the renowned city planner Hippodamus of Miletus. As a leading member of the Ionian Confederation, Miletus played a key role in shaping the political and intellectual life of the region through centuries of Persian, Roman, and later Seljuk rule.

Your final stop is Didyma, an ancient sanctuary famous for its oracle of Apollo. Though not a city itself, Didyma served as a major religious center connected to Miletus by a sacred road. Known as the “Delphi of Anatolia,” it was a place where pilgrims sought guidance and prophecy. According to mythology, the site is linked to Zeus and Leto, the parents of twin deities Apollo and Artemis.
