Overview

You will begin your tour with a visit to the local Market, Mercado dos Lavradores an Art Deco building. Witness the lively atmosphere, with kiosks offering local tropical fruit and vegetables, and the fish market with the fresh Espada or Tuna fish.

Continuing on your tour you will take a walk down to the Old Town, to see Funchal history and some important historical monuments, with its peculiar architecture. You will be enchanted by the charming narrow streets dating from the 15th century with their colorful modern artistic painted doors.

It is then time to take the cable car up to Monte to visit one of the most important churches on the island, Church Nossa Senhora do Monte. This church is famous for the biggest religious festival of the area. Enjoy a relaxing walk through the charming public gardens, filled with beautiful vegetation and flowers.

You will then Experience the exciting toboggan ride down to Livramento. A fast way to get down to Funchal, the locals have been using this mode of transport since the mid 19th Century, and attracts many tourists every year.

At the end of the tour, you will be driven back to the harbor with plenty of time in advance for your ships departure.
