Overview
You will be met at the port of Civitavecchia by your English speaking driver who will then escort you to the 8 seater air conditioned minivan, which will take you into Rome.
The advantage of a 8 seater minivan, is that this tour will get you as close as possible to the main sites.
The first stop will be the magnificent Colosseum, a huge historical amphitheatre which was home to the famous gladiator. At the Colosseum you will have some free time for photo opportunities before boarding the minivan to take you into the centre.
The next stop will be the famous Spanish Steps, this is where you will meet your English speaking guide who will then embark on a walking tour to all of the famous sites, explaining the history and many stories along the way.
Set in the Spanish Square (Piazza di Spagna) you will find the 174 steps otherwise known as the Spanish Steps. Overtime many films have featured these steps and therefore made them famous all over the world. Your guide will give you information about the area and will also give you free time to explore and maybe try to attempt to get to the top?
The walking tour will then continue to the Trevi Fountain, an impressive monument with cascading water set in the centre of the city, truly a classic baroque masterpiece. This is one of the oldest water sources of the City dating back to the Romans. Your guide will tell you the famous coin tradition where throwing a coin in the fountain it is said that you will return to this beautiful city, listen out for more of the tradition... At the Trevi Fountain, there are a lot of pizzerias, gelatos shops where we will be able to have free time to try these if you wish, before moving on with the tour.
The tour will continue to the Pantheon, a magnificent Roman church which was formerly a Roman temple. This incredible building is breathtaking, your guide will take you inside and talk to you about the history this church holds and then your eyes will be drawn to the large circular dome ceiling, simply exquisite.
After the visit to the Pantheon we will visit one of the most beautiful squares in Rome, Piazza Navona. Full of restaurants and eateries this square is home to the famous Fountain of the four rivers (Fontana dei Quattro Fiumi) and also an impressive statue of Neptune. Learn all about this famous square and also experience some free time before meeting up with your guide who will then take you to your minivan for the journey to St Peters Square.
Once you have met with your driver, your guide will leave you here and the tour will continue to St Peters Square.
St Peters Square, situated in the Vatican City is home to the famous Vatican, here you will be able to have free time for plenty of photo opportunities or simply souvenir shop before returning back to your driver for the return back to the cruise port to meet your cruise ship in plenty of time.
This is a small group tour of 8 passengers, it is advisable to reserve this tour as soon as possible.
