Overview
Your half-day excursion starts with a visit to the Clan Jetties, a village including homes built on stilts. These were built by the Chinese immigrants who were actively involved in the history of the island. Each jetty is comprised of rows of houses on stilts joined by wooden walkways over the water. These "water villages", set up more than a century ago, houses the descendants from Fukien Province in China, who shared common historical, geographical, and clan origins.
Next, you will enjoy a leisure journey to the northern tip of Penang, to the Batu Ferringhi beach area. Here, you will spend some leisure time browsing through the night market. There are lots of interesting stalls lining the street from souvenirs to handicrafts. You may even choose to simply enjoy a cup of coffee/drink at one of the many cafes there.
You could also sample some of Penang's famous street food at a lively food court where vendors known as hawkers cook in small stalls that surround a central seating area. Penangites eat around-the-clock court.
Local specialties reflect the blend of Chinese, Indian, Malay, and Thai influences. Sample some of the popular dishes like Char Keow Teoy (stir-fried flat noodles), curry noodles, Hokkien Mee (spicy prawn noodles), Assam Laksa (spicy-sour white noodles soup), and many more!
At the end of the tour, you will be returned to the port in plenty of time to meet your ships departure.
Visit to the night market is strictly subject to weather conditions. Should it rain on the day of the tour, the visit will be replaced with a local shopping mall.
