Overview
Being the second-largest city of the Fiji Islands, Suva holds the political and administrative power of the country. Join in this tour which will take you on a cultural panoramic drive where you will visit some of the most important sights of the capital Suva!
Once you will get picked up from the port, your tour will depart on a scenic drive towards the political centre of Suva while your professional English speaking tour guide, will enlighten you about the history and culture of the area. Your first stop will be at the Old Parliament House complex, (erected in 1992) where you will stop for some great photo opportunities.
Then, you will leave for a 45-minute panoramic journey towards Nausori town to have a glance at the University of the South Pacific, established in 1968 and spread in twelve countries in Oceania (its academic programs are recognized worldwide!).
Once in Nausori town, you will have some time for some shopping for fresh and exotic fruit and vegetables where you can pick up some bargains! Stop for lunch at the Museum themed restaurant—Kanu’s . After lunch continue your tour to the Fiji Musuem then into the city for shopping before returning to the ship.
Time to get on a scenic route again, where you will admire Fiji's first sugar and rice mill built in 1872 before arriving in Suva city and head to the Fiji Museum to learn some of Fiji's history.
In here, you will witness a vast archaeological collection of relics belonging to Fiji's indigenous history (including items used for cannibalism) dating back almost 3,700 years. It also displays the rudder of HMS Bounty, known as HM Armed Vessel Bounty which was a small merchant vessel purchased by the Royal Navy for a botanical duty.
At the end of the tour, you will head back to the port plenty of time in advance before your ship's departure.
Basic Itinerary:
- Pick-up from the port
- Drive through Nasese to Old Parliament House (sights and photo-stop) - 1. 5 Hrs
- Scenic Drive - University of the South Pacific up to Nausori Town - 45 mins
- Visit the fruit and vegetable market - 15 mins
- Scenic drive through Princess road to Suva city - 45 mins
- Fiji Museum tour - 1.5-2 Hrs
- Drive back to the port
