Overview

Let your driver whisk you away to enjoy Malta via the Southern Route or the Northern Route. Your comfortable SUV will allow you to see Malta in a relaxed and enjoyable half day tour, away from the cruise crowds. Let your driver know your preferred route on the day of your tour, and settle in for a great day ashore!

Mdina and Northern Route

The northern route includes spectacular scenery including the beautiful rich golden sands of Ghajn Tuffieha Bay and Anchor Bay, which is home to Popeye Village, the actual film set used for the movie Popeye. Visit the farmers village of Mgarr and the quaint town of Mellieha, which sits on a high ridge and commands views across the channel offering incredible views of the bay and the sister island of Comino & Gozo in the distance. You will have some free time to explore the old city of Mdina. The final part of the tour includes a scenic drive along the coast road which stretches along the northern coastline and passes through the popular towns of Sliema and St. Julians, finally ending at Malta’s largest Yacht Marina before we reach Valletta and return back to the cruise terminal.

Mdina and Southern Route

Start with a visit to the old medieval city of Mdina, here you will have some free time explore this old ancient city. Continue onwards to the small village of Dingli before reaching Dingli Cliffs, these cliffs stretch for some 4km along the west coast, we will include a photo stop at the small 18th century chapel which sites on the edge of the cliffs. Your scenic drive then passes though Girgenti, a shaded fertile valley renowned for its orchards and cultivated fields. The old picturesque farmsteads are the homes of the local farming community who still work the fields and cultivate the orchards. On a spur overlooking the valley stands the summer palace of the Inquisitors. At the end of this scenic drive arrive at the Blue Grotto. Here you can choose do take an optional 25- minute boat trip (additional cost) which explores the incredible beauty of the caves along the coast. Your final stop is the pretty fishing village of Marsaxlokk. Here you can admire the colorful traditional fishing boats known as the 'luzzu' and there is a small market. At this stage our tour comes to an end and we make our way back to the cruise terminal.

Whatever route you choose, this is a fun way to get to know an area of Malta with a personalized pick up and return to your cruise port.

Cost of the Blue Grotto is not included. If you would like to visit; cost of €8 Euro per guest, payable on the day, directly to the boat operator. The boat trip will only operate if sea conditions are safe, decided by operator.
Bring cash/local currency for any additional purchases on the day.
Gratuities/Tips are not included in your tour, if you would like to leave a tip, please bring cash.

If you opt for the Southern Route - The Blue Grotto boat trip is not included, allow €8 Euro/adults, €4 Euro/children (under 12yrs), to be paid direct to the boat operators.
