Overview
Oman’s Grand Canyon is one of the most beautiful and picturesque spots in the whole country. You will get a fantastic opportunity to see some of the most beautiful landscape in the area. This is a truly amazing opportunity which cannot be missed.
The group departs from Mina Qaboos towards the south of Muscat to visit Nizwa and the Jebel Shams. Our first stop will be a rest stop at Falaj Daris hotel. Thereafter guests will visit the Nizwa Souq, famed for its Antiques and silver jewelry. There will be a brief photo stop at the Round Tower Fort before taking the off road to Jebel Shaams.
Next the tour will take us to Wadi Nakher, located in the depth of our deepest canyon. While heading for Jebel Shams, guests will stop at the terrace farming village of Wadi Ghul. In the Jebel Akhdar range Jebel Shams (mountain of the Sun), the highest peak offers a spectacular view. (It is advisable to wear light comfortable clothing and walking shoes). This area is home to weavers of heavy woolen rugs in distinctive red, black & brown geometric designs at a very reasonable price.
Here guests will enjoy a buffet lunch (at own expense) at the Jabel Sham Motel.
After lunch guests will then return to port in plenty of time before the ship departs.
It is advisable to wear light, comfortable clothing and walking shoes. This tour does not operate on Fridays as the Nizwa Fort closes at 11:00 hrs.
