Overview
This 5-hour Shore Excursion will take you on a drive along the coastal area of Buenos Aires, starting in Del Libertador Av. This thoroughfare extends approx. 16 miles towards the north of Buenos Aires, and was once lined with mansions, some of which still stand today.
You will pass Costanera along the coast of the river, which was once a Grand Prix Circuit called Costanera Circuit, and you will continue your journey past Jorge Newbery Airport and River Plate stadium. The stadium opened in 1938 and is located in the Nunez district. Known as El Monumental, it is the largest stadium in Argentina and hosted the final between Argentina and the Netherlands in the 1978 FIFA World Cup. In 2018, it will host the opening and closing ceremonies for the Summer Youth Olympics.
Your guide will point out the Presidential House of Olivos, which is the official residence of the President of Argentina before you arrive in San Isidro town. This neighborhood is lined with original cobbled streets and single-story houses. It was chosen as a summer resort by the Buenos Aires aristocracy at the end of the 19th century. You will be able to admire wonderful houses and palaces from those times as well as the Cathedral and a great view of the Rio de La Plata.
Your final stop will be at the pier in El Tigre town, where you will be able to see how, after floods, the town is situated on an island now created by rivers and streams.
